This Exhibition is part of Photo Month 2009
Photography Exhibition by Andrew Aitchison
Documentary photographer Andrew Aitchison has spent the last 5 years living and working in Stamford Hill amongst the Orthodox Jewish Community. The project began when Andrew starting photographing the holy days and festivals on the streets of Stamford Hill. Over time he has built up connections and friendships with key figures in the community that have led him to have exceptional access into family and community life which have rarely been documented. These include rite of passage ceremonies such as a Bris (circumcision), Upsherin (haircutting ceremony), holy days such as Sukkot (feast of tabernacles) and Tu B’Shevat (blessing of the trees).
Private View: Thursday 12th November 6.30 - 9pm
